Haiku Dave’s Leap Day Book Release Celebration

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Take a leap on “Leap Day,” and come to meet Haiku Dave on Saturday, February 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Cascadia House, to celebrate the release of his new book, Haiku Journey Through 20th Century Music. The event is free, and we request that you RSVP.

We will gather and mingle from 4 to 5 pm, enjoy wine, a cheese and charcuterie board, crackers and fruit. Then at 5 pm Dave, with his wife and book editor Cristina, will perform a half hour duet recital of haikus selected from the book, spiced with the recorded musical selections that inspired them, followed by a question and answer session.

Copies will be available for perusing and purchase ($20 per book), and Dave will be happy to sign your copy.

Haiku Journey Through 20th Century Music is an insightful and fun blend of haiku poems and 20th century music history. Each Haiku inspired by an instrumental and a song for each year with commentaries highlighting the author’s personal and historical significance of each piece. Dave describes his book as:

A “love letter” to my favorite composers and performers.

This book will appeal to lovers of poetry (particularly the haiku form), music (particularly all forms of music from classical, to country, to blues, to jazz, to rock ‘n roll, to pop, and even punk), and to those who have an appreciation for social history of the 20th century. It is a music appreciation book that will appeal to all ages, and could be a valuable companion piece for music history classes.

All the instrumentals and songs celebrated here through the medium of the Haiku can be found on YouTube. Treat yourself to a full immersion experience by reading the haiku and listening to the music that inspired it!

And surprise, surprise! As you delve into the book, you will even be treated to three of Dave’s a original black and white drawings.
